Child Administrator

All Counties - LAC/101/2026
A Child Administrator or Childcare Administrator manages operational duties for childcare centers, NGOs, or educational institutions, focusing on enrollment, compliance, and staff coordination. Responsibilities include maintaining records, safeguarding children, managing inventory, and communicating with parents. Requirements often include a diploma in early childhood development, computer literacy, and 3–5 years of experience. 


Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Education: Diploma or higher in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE), Administration, or related fields.
  • Experience: 3–5 years working in a childcare or similar institutional setting.
  • Skills: Proficiency in MS Office/data systems, strong leadership, and excellent communication.
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of child protection policies and early childhood development milestones. 
 
Common Types of Bonuses
  • Performance Bonuses: These are often tied to specific targets, such as maintaining school enrollment levels or passing health and safety audits. In some management roles, these can reach up to 25% of annual compensation.
  • 13th-Month Pay: A customary year-end reward equivalent to one month's salary, typically paid in December to help with holiday expenses.
  • Retention Bonuses: Offered to key staff to encourage them to stay with an organization for a set period, such as a multi-year project in an NGO.
  • Sign-on Bonuses: Occasionally offered for specialized administrative roles in high demand or in remote areas to attract top talent
 
Mandatory Statutory Benefits
Every registered employer in Kenya must provide these basic benefits:
  • Annual Leave: A minimum of 21 consecutive days of paid leave per year.
  • Medical Benefits: Employers must contribute to the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) or the newly established Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF).
  • Pension Contributions: Mandatory contributions to the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) for long-term savings.
  • Family Leave: Female employees are entitled to 3 months of paid maternity leave, while male employees receive 2 weeks of paid paternity leave.
  • Sick Leave: A minimum of 7 days of fully paid sick leave annually, subject to providing a medical certificate.
